Please find an update from the New Folly Surgery below:
“The Surgery management team are working with the NHS Integrated Care Board in Chelmsford on a new project aimed at making efficiencies to both the patients and the surgery team in relation to the 8am rush, they and all other practices deal with each morning.
This work involves mapping the various access and demand routes via face to face visits, telephone calls and eConsult digital patient enquiry forms. This is a 16 week programme with time given each Wednesday morning to review and look at current processes to culminate in a better more effective way of triaging these three forms of patient access – more news on this work will be published for patients from November and it was discussed at the recent October Patient Reference Group Meeting.
We recently had two ICB led audits, a Quality Assurance (QA) review at the end of September looking at all areas and departments in the Surgery and an Infection Prevention Control (IPC) audit on 25 October. Both events went well with feedback and suggestions given to help us improve certain areas of work within the Surgery.
We are working with Anglia Ruskin University and the London training colleges (ICL and UCL) taking students from year groups 3 to 6 for various training placements and some patients will meet selected students as part of ongoing consultations, fully supervised by the GP Partners.
We have two new members of staff in the Care Navigation team, Viki and Nancy who started in October replacing Kerry and Angela who have left for new ventures, so a very warm welcome to them both.
Good news in that Sue, one of our two Practice Nurses completed and qualified for her recent Cervical Screening course and is now fully able to do all forms of this screening giving more capacity to the Surgery.
We are also utilising the services of a very good Health Care Assistant Lauren who works with Deal Tree and the GP Hub in Brentwood; Lauren along with Josh our Paramedic are supporting the clinical team now on a regular basis.
The flu vaccination campaign this autumn has gone very well with high attendance at both the Saturday flu clinics held in October – we now call on those last patients under and over 65 in the relevant risk categories to come forward for their winter flu vaccinations please.
The next Patient Reference Group meeting is on Wed 15 January 2025 and the Surgery will be closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 January over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.”
