The re-wilding of the closed churchyard at St Edmund and St Mary’s is nearing completion.
Funding from the Brentwood Community Fund and the Parish Council has brought together local residents and young people to provide a space for teenage girls and for people living with dementia in particular to meet. The Anglo European School Gardening Club drew up the plan and the Primary School has worked with it to produce bug hotels, bat and bird boxes to be installed before the official opening on 15th June.
Already the large hexagonal table, with wheelchair/pushchair access is in daily use with people chatting and eating their lunch or drinking a coffee from the High Street, and there is a large bench in an area that catches the sun for contemplation. A further bench with arms and height suitable for people who are not so agile is on order.
