It wouldn’t be Summer in Brentwood without the annual Strawberry Fair!
With fun for all the family, Brentwood Borough Council’s FREE-entry event takes place on Saturday 16 June, on Shenfield Common, from 12pm-6pm. It will include lots of activities for children including inflatables, brilliant bubbles from the Bubble Man, Punch and Judy shows and Princess appearances throughout the day. Young visitors can go on small funfair rides, have a go on the coconut shy, or have their face painted amongst many other fun amusements on offer.
There will be an array of food and drink on offer, with locally brewed beer, Pimms and Prosecco and a converted horsebox gin bar! For those wishing to indulge, there will be a Cream Tea tent, ice cream, and a variety of hot and cold refreshments to everyone’s tastes. And it wouldn’t be the Strawberry Fair without some fresh strawberries and cream, provided by Doddinghurst Road Church!
Those feeling energetic can show off their strength by taking part in the Tug o’ War, or alternatively relax and enjoy the entertainment in the Big Top, hosted by Brentwood Baptist Church. There’ll be performances all day from choirs, local performing arts groups and brilliant bands, whilst Doddinghurst Infants’ School shows us how Maypole dancing is done!
Take a moment to browse the stalls, where you can get your caricature drawn, buy crafts and gifts, plants, children’s books and sweet treats. There will also be many fantastic community organisations and local charities present, so do take a moment to see what amazing services they provide.
Brentwood Borough Council’s Chair of the Community, Health and Leisure Committee, Councillor Chris Hossack said: “The Strawberry Fair is always such a great event, and with what is planned, local families are bound to have a fun-filled day out. The event is a real example of the community coming together to celebrate the start of Summer in Brentwood and it couldn’t happen without the help of many groups and volunteers!

Please note that there is no parking at the event, but visitors can park at the nearby Brentwood County High School for £2 with proceeds going to Conservators of Shenfield Common. Alternatively, please use the town centre car parks, walk or take public transport where possible.
