Only two weeks until this year’s Ingatestone Summer Show!
For many decades, Summer (formerly Horticultural) Show organised by Ingatestone & Fryerning Horticultural Society has been the biggest summer event in the village: it has run every year with only two exceptions – war and Covid. Last year, IFPC took over the organisation – however, the Horticultural Show remains the major part of this event, which celebrates local organisations and charities as well as independent stall holders.
IFHS Competition in the Big Marquee
This is an open competition – you do not have to be a member of the IFHS to enter.
Come and show off your skills. There are classes for adults and children in:
- Horticulture – flowers, fruit, vegetables and pot plants
- Crafts – Knitting, sewing, hard and soft handicraft, painting and photography
- Domestic – bread, cakes, savouries, honey, jams, pickles, home-made wines and flavoured spirits.
You can find the Horticultural Competition schedule in Patrick Green and Ingatestone Library or download it on www.ifhs.org.uk. Entries to be in the box in the Community Centre by Wednesday 17th July.
Entry to the competition is free and children win cash for a first, second or third place. Most adult classes have a cup or trophy to win.

Artisan and Food Stalls
Dozens of amazing artisan stalls will be present at the show – some of them have been regulars at Ingatestone Artisan Market and already attended last year’s Summer Show, and others will be welcomed in the village for the first time! There will be a wide variety of amazing products, including handmade gifts, natural skincare, scentsy, clothes, many kinds of gorgeous jewellery and accessories for every taste, soaps and candles, art and cards, crochet, stationery, pins and brooches and lots more!
For children, there will be soft toy game and Micky Mouse bell games, lego, kids’ watches and bracelets, balloons, face painting and even a quiet corner to take a breath and rest or do some crafts.
And finally, food and drinks! As last year, the bar will be run by the Cricket Club, and the Scouts will once again provide delicious burgers and hotdogs in their BBQ tent. You will also find tea and cakes inside the Seymour Pavillion by Home Comfort Catering, fantastic milkshakes and specialty coffee from The Milke Way Limited, Indian from Tapu Streetfood and Greek from Silverside Grill Event Catering, pickles from Sticky Pickle, as well as waffles and crepes, candy floss and ice cream elsewhere on the field.
On the day, you will be able to collect the main show programme with the list of all arena events, show activities and stall holders – it will also be available online in advance to be accessed via QR-code.
The day is here soon – grab your family and friends, and come enjoy our Summer Show on 20 July!
…And in the meantime, a few images from 2023 – to remember what fun we had at the Summer Show last year!
