E-bulletin 7th September – change to closure dates on the A12

A12 Margaretting Bypass Reconstruction Scheme update
I’m writing to you with an update regarding the start of our work on the A12 Margaretting
Bypass reconstruction scheme between junctions 13 and 15.
Due to technical challenges, we now need to move the dates of our road closures. Please ignore any previous dates for road closures. The new dates for when the A12 is closed between junctions 13 to 15 are:
  • Monday 12 September to Friday 16 September 2022 inclusive – Full closure of the southbound carriageway each evening between 8pm and 6am.
  • Monday 19 September to Friday 23 September 2022 inclusive – Full closure of the northbound carriageway each evening between 8pm and 6am

PLEASE NOTE: there will also be a number of lane closures on opposite side of carriageways during the above closures.

The junction 15 northbound exit slip road will also be reduced to one lane from 19 September 2022 with a 40mph speed restriction in place until the end of the project.

The road closures will take place overnight so that our team can do the work in the safest way possible. This will also allow us to keep the A12 Margaretting Bypass between junctions 13 and 15 open during the day. The preparation work may at times be noisy, and we apologise for any disturbance caused. We’ll do our best to complete the work as quickly as possible. All dates are subject to change due to operational requirements and weather conditions.
During this time, traffic wishing to travel on the A12 between junctions 13 and 15 will follow a signed diversion route, as follows:
  • Southbound traffic will travel southbound along the A130, before travelling west along the A127, ahead of re-joining the A12 at junction 12.
  • Northbound traffic will travel eastbound along the A127, before travelling north along the A130, ahead of re-joining the A12 at junction 17.
A local diversion route will also be in place for residents who need to access the A12 north or southbound during this time.
Please see the map at the end of this letter for more information on the diversion route.
